For Linda’sJusJoJan our prompt for JusJoJan January 21st is “scraggly” and is brought to us by Cheryl. Thanks Cheryl.
Winter Skies
Winds from the south brought warm air to January skies
I watch the dirty remains of snow drifts melting
into tiny rivers flowing wildly down the asphalt
toward their destination of nowhere
a small crow lands on a scraggly winter brown shrub
and boldly caws, daring the song birds to return early
for he knows, as I know, that this winter is far from over
the air will chill again, more snow will fall
and I have plenty of cold days remaining
days to savor the peace and solitude of winter
a warm fire, a cup of tea, and a good book
come Winter and shroud my world
in your blanket of white stillness
for just a little longer
