30 Day Song Challenge day 2

Today’s prompt: A song you like with a number in the title

I have no real reason for choosing this song other than I’ve always liked it. Tony Orlando’s voice, the peppy beat, slightly silly sentiment. It makes me think of summer days, hip hugger elephant bell bottoms, halter tops, bare feet and flowers in my hair. Yep, I was a hippie (still am really). For your consideration “Knock Three Times,” may it bring you a smile this first day of 2019.

Knock Three Times

Hey girl what ya doin’ down there
Dancin’ alone every night while I live right above you?
I can hear your music playin’
I can feel your body swayin’
One floor below me you don’t even know me
I love you

Oh, my darling
Knock three times on the ceiling if you want me
Twice on the pipe if the answer is no
Oh, my sweetness (clack clack clack)
Means you’ll meet me in the hallway
Mmm, twice on the pipe (bump bump) means you ain’t gonna show

If you look out your window tonight
Pull in the string with the note that’s attached to my heart
Read how many times I saw you
How in my silence I adored you
And only in my dreams did that wall between us come apart

Oh, my darling
Knock three times on the ceiling if you want me
Twice on the pipe if the answer is no
Oh, my sweetness (clack clack clack)
Means you’ll meet me in the hallway
Twice on the pipe (bump bump) means you ain’t gonna show

Read how many times I saw you
How in my silence I adored you
And only in my dreams did that wall between us come apart

Oh, my darling
Knock three times on the ceiling if you want me
Twice on the pipe if the answer is no
Oh, my sweetness (clack clack clack)
Means you’ll meet me in the hallway
Mmm, twice on the pipe (bump bump) means you ain’t gonna show

  1. Wow! This raised a veritable flood of memories. I used to roller skate (at the local rink when they had such things) to that song. Flirted with my crush Bobby and enjoyed myself immensely. I loved skating there so much that my mother hosted my birthday party there that year. ❤ Thanks for the reminder! 😀
