Fandango’s got a couple of whoppers in the proverbial “provocative questions” hopper this week. Since this first one fits in nicely with my current “Spoonie Saturday” theme, hang on to your seats. Here we go.
What are you struggling with the most right now?
I can sum up my main struggle in one word “biopsy.” Now don’t be concerned or waste your sympathy on me. It’s OK, this isn’t even unusual, more’s the pity. I’m not struggling with the aspects most people struggle with. I’m not struggling with the idea of a debilitating illness, already got those. I’m not afraid of the invasive procedure or the anesthetics, I’ve had two knees replace for pete’s sake. I’m not even struggling with the concept that this could be deadly, death and I are old friends; but that’s for another story. No, what I’m struggling with is the bloody INCONVENIENCE of the whole thing.
I fight for my life and my health in ways you likely can’t imagine. Every. Single. Day. I’m not complaining, over the years it’s become a lifestyle and one that I’m well pleased with. Hell I’m better off than most people with one chronic disease. I’ve been through this before, more times than I can conveniently count. There’s the stress of the symptom, then there’s the first “test” followed by more tests, etc. etc. until finally they decide a biopsy is necessary and then there’s the scheduling and the waiting, not to mention the waiting for results. It’s enough to make a girl scream to the universe “ENOUGH ALREADY!”
That’s it in a nutshell, I’ve been struggling with it for weeks now and I’ll continue to struggle with it for a few weeks more. When you’re waging a war against you own immune system, a struggle is like daily exercise.

Thanks Fandango, I probably should have said I’m struggling with the state of medical care in the US. I’ve been through this before, several times actually and it’s always the same “small possibility of cancer but we have to be sure” then they proceed to run 18 tests before they even get to the biopsy. I swear it’s just to run up the bills. arrrggghhh! Thanks for reading my rant. 😉

Thank you, I’ll be OK, I always am. I get frustrated with the medical profession. I mean, really just take the stupid biopsy and be done with it. I hate the half dozen tests they have to do before to hand to prove that I need the biopsy. It’s such a waste of time and money. Thanks for listening to my rant. 😉
