Beauty is where you find it

I do not subscribe to other people’s definition of beauty. I would rather wear flowers in my hair than diamonds on my fingers. I would rather walk barefoot than in the best designer shoes.  Is there anything more beautiful than a bouquet of dandelions in the hands of a child?

JusJoJan 7 – Mix it Up

JJJ 1.7.20 Snow

Interesting prompt for today, so let’s mix things up a little. My blog is an eclectic mix of poetry, flash fiction, short stories, spoonie life advice and wow, just whatever happens to pop into my head. I like to mix things up at home sometimes too. My usual Spotify playlist of Taylor Davis’ music today has been preempted by French Cafe Jazz – shameless borrowed from The Simply Luxurious Life .

Robin the Haphazard Homemaker has some great ideas for mixing up your Winter decor using items you already have on hand.

Shortly I’ll be enjoying some Mexican Hot Cocoa (from a homemade mix) and a bit of art journaling. So whatever you’re doing today, take a minute or two and mix things up a little. 😉

30 day song challenge – Day 26

30 day song challenge

Todays prompt: A song that makes you want to fall in love

This may seem like an odd choice to a lot of people. I mean with all the love songs out there that seem like a natural fit. But bear with me a moment. You see, I found true love, after many disasters and years of searching, it came to me late in life. I had been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and I’d been fighting the “good fight” for some time. I was tired, I was restless, life had to mean more. I needed a partner, a fellow warrior. I found Superhubs. Superhubs has MS, when we first started “getting serious” he felt obligated to point out to me that he could be in a wheel chair or worse without warning and he was hesitant to inflict that on someone else. I just told him “it’s enough, just to be with you.” Continue reading “30 day song challenge – Day 26”

Make a Joyful Noise – Day 13

30 day song challenge

Today’s prompt: A song you like from the 1970’s. Really? That’s not a prompt, that’s a library or bibliography. I mean seriously, I was in HIGH SCHOOL and a young adult in the 1970’s. I graduated high school, got married, got divorced, got married again, and had a child, moved over 1,000 miles 4 times. It was a busy decade and, let’s be honest, the music was awesome! Asking me to pick a song is like, … well I don’t know what it’s like but it’s nigh impossible. Continue reading “Make a Joyful Noise – Day 13”

Make a Joyful Noise – Day 12

30 day song challenge

Today’s prompt “a song from your preteen years”

Oh man! Does banging sticks together to make fire count? OK, I’m not THAT old (unless you’re talking to my great grandchildren, then yeah, I’m that old). Wow, this really takes me back, like a lot, I mean dude, c’mon. Yep, I’m a Californian from the 50’s 60’s and 70’s. Just a side note on how I do my research for this challenge. Every day, I look at the prompt and then go through my music archives. I’ve got most of my music in digital formats and it’s searchable but it’s filed by artist, not year or type of music. So I do a lot of random browsing to come up with these. Then I plug in my ear buds and listen to the song to remind myself of any words I might have forgotten and see if it “feels” right for the prompt. Continue reading “Make a Joyful Noise – Day 12”

Song Lyric Sunday 11.9.18 Take/Taking

Song Lyric Sunday

Helen’s theme for this week is take/taking. Whenever I think about taking, I thing about those “taking” relationships. You know the ones where you give and they take, and take, and take, and take…. you get the picture. Been there, done that. Also, the singer/writer was taken from us far too soon.  I was sitting in my car in the parking lot of my high school when the news came through and I still feel that loss. Oh the poignant songs we’ll never hear from the marvelous soul that was Jim Croce. Continue reading “Song Lyric Sunday 11.9.18 Take/Taking”
