The Dream

Kira sun scribbles 3.3.19

The Dream

I stood upon the meadow
and gazed up at the sky
my creative soul was empty
inspiration had run dry

The sun shown down upon me
as I stood upon the earth
ideas came a calling
just waiting to give birth

When I woke, my gravid soul
was filled with love and light
ideas and inspiration
a grateful heart’s delight

The Wall

kira sun scribbles 2.24.19

For Kira’s Sunday Scribbles. Kira has given us a truly moving piece this week. Without further ado, I give you my interpretation:

The Wall

Long ago, there was a land
both fair and green
and the people there were happy
as they worked to build their dream
neighbors came from far and near
their fortunes there to find
and were welcomed to the new world
by people generous and kind Continue reading “The Wall”

Darkness Lies Within

kira sun scribbles 2.17.19

Darkness Lies Within

I woke one day to screaming
and realized it was my own
broken dishes, shattered glass
I shivered all alone.
For the darkness had come again
broken free from his cage
wreaking havoc and despair
with violence and rage
Tears fell from my eyes
and landed on the floor
I shook my fist at heaven
and then I cried NO MORE!
I swept the bits and pieces
and patched up every wall
and then I went inside myself
and built a holding cell
Made up of logic and of reason
it would hold the darkness well

Where the Spirit Fire Flowers Bloom

The battle was over, vast and bloody it had been. The Gremlekins were part of the clean up patrol. They wandered through the horrible remains of the battlefield with the wives and mothers seeking lost sons and husbands. Small, gentle creatures, they could always be counted on to give the unclaimed dead what comfort could be found in a simple cleansing and burial. kira sun scribbles 2.3.19

This week’s Kira’s Sunday Scribble left my in a quandary.  I really, really wanted to write a cute little poem about the brave Teddy Bear Brigade. But alas, the picture isn’t saying that to me and it’s screaming louder and louder that if I write some cutesy little piece about it, it will …. well I don’t know what but never underestimate the power of art or Teddy Bears! So, without further ado, Continue reading “Teddy Bears and the Brigade”

A flash fiction story for Kira’s Sunday Scribbles

Fairy Escape

The forest drake the Technocrats captured had now been turned into a living tank, it’s brain replaced with a difference engine. The whys of the Technocrat religion had long been lost to history but the reality of their destructive crusade was alarming.
