For Linda’s JusJoJan prompt “Jade” is brought to us by MB, Thanks!
Sharra carefully wiped each leaf of the jade plant until it’s waxy leaves shone in the sun. Carefully plucking a few, she placed them in her basket. Her withered hands moved with the effortless grace of a much younger woman as she gathered the remaining ingredients for her prosperity charm bags. No more wars, no more fires. She was just the simple village witch.
With a wave of her hand, the old village witch vanished and she was once again, Sharra Fire Fae, her strong wings unfurled, Dreamsong, grasped in her sword arm, blazing with magic fire. War loomed ahead and her heart sang with battle magic. But that was so long ago. With a sigh she returned to her older image. “Sometimes immortality’s a real pain in the arse,” she muttered as she returned to her jade plant.

Who Wants to Live Forever – Queen — Freddie, ye left us too soon
“You have written a half dozen book of poetry and at least three novellas but you don’t intend to publish them?” Sarah furrowed her eyebrows while glaring slightly at her dear old friend.
“Yep, that’s right.” Topaz patted a pile of booklets, all printed, illustrated and carefully bound by her own hand. They were her own personal collection of her own personal writing.
“That’s crazy Topaz, any publisher would love to get their hands on your work. Surely you are not afraid of rejection.”
Topaz set down her tea cup and looked intently into her younger friend’s eyes. “Sarah dear, I do not fear rejection nor do I fear failure, for those are other people’s opinions of my work and therefore they are meaningless.”
“Then why not publish? You could even self-publish.” Sarah began to smile at the idea.
Topaz just smiled quietly, “there is only one thing I do fear my dear. That which can corrupt and destroy work that was brought forth with the very best intention. What I fear is not failure, but success.”
I do not subscribe to other people’s definition of beauty. I would rather wear flowers in my hair than diamonds on my fingers. I would rather walk barefoot than in the best designer shoes. Is there anything more beautiful than a bouquet of dandelions in the hands of a child?

Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “the first 3 words of the first full sentence.” Okay, follow me here. This is what I want you to do: 1. Grab the closest book to you when you sit down to write your post. 2. Open it to a random page. 3. Locate the first complete sentence on that page. 4. Use the first three words of that sentence to start your post, then take it from there–write whatever comes to mind. That’s it! Have fun!
Page 130 – Moontide – “A gust of wind caught it as she got her sword clear and threw it over his head.”
A Gust of Wind
A gust of wind blew through Star’s hair. As always, her mind went blank even as her body reacted. She acted as she had been trained, dancing with effortless grace wielding a slender curved sword in one hand, dagger in the other.Continue reading “JusJoJan – SoCS — A Gust of Wind”→

Your prompt for JusJoJan January 10th, 2020,is “dogs.” Use the word “dogs” any way you’d like. Enjoy!
“It’s just a dog.” Noemei’s voice held a combination of disregard and pity.
Navro squatted next to the animal and scratched it’s ears. “I’m not so sure,” he mused. “I feel something, more.” Navro looked into the animal’s eyes an odd color of bluish grey.Continue reading “JusJoJan 10 – Dogs”→
Linda’s JusJoJanprompt for January 9th, 2020, is “scrumptious.” Use the word “scrumptious” any way you’d like. Have fun!Today’s word was given to us by Maggie at From Cave Walls. Thank you Maggie!
It’s no secret that I’m a foodie, a spoonie foodie at that. So when I see the word scrumptious, one would tend to believe my mind will wander to baked salmon fillets, topped with garlic butter and lemon, or a wildly decadent black forest torte (both of which are particular specialties of mine). But no, when I think of scrumptious, my mind inevitably goes directly to my SuperHubs. Yeah, yeah I know sick and twisted. He is the sweetest, kindest human being I have ever had the honor to know. Yesterday we spent all day at a VA medical clinic undergoing evaluation for a disability claim. The question here is not whether or not he is disabled but whether it is “service related.” The outcome is entirely inconsequential to us but the evaluation is a requirement. So there you have it. It’s a long, grueling, and annoying process. Yet we manage it some modicum of grace, style and yes, humor. At the end of the day, his smile and laughter is scrumptiouslike a breeze across the bay.
Interesting prompt for today, so let’s mix things up a little. My blog is an eclectic mix of poetry, flash fiction, short stories, spoonie life advice and wow, just whatever happens to pop into my head. I like to mix things up at home sometimes too. My usual Spotify playlist of Taylor Davis’ music today has been preempted by French Cafe Jazz – shameless borrowed from The Simply Luxurious Life .
Branches dance in the wind swaying like lovers slow dancing a few puffy clouds skitter across the azure blue sky I sit by my fireplace warm and snug watching the deer graze paying no heed to the cold wind or melting snow drifts We share our joy the deer and I of sunlit warmth and blue sky of greening grass yet to come the promise and possibility of spring
