Far Below

From my window I can see
a rooftop garden crisp and clean
the city stretches out below
the sky alight with morning’s glow
and people rushing to and fro

Amongst the fog and soot and grime
they seem to get along just fine
with problems city dwellers share
but life goes on as I sit and stare
longing for a single breath of air

and home
