Frozen
Dull grey, chilled ground
decay halts in frozen moments
Mother Earth slumbers
in her cocoon of
leaves made brittle with frost
colors retreat from the cold
still the Mother waits,
with endless patience
for the sun’s return
when the world thaws,
colors flow back to the land
and the dreamer awakens

I like the slumbering in the cocoon of leaves.

Oh, yes, the fading away of colour in winter fits perfectly with this image. I like the idea of colour flowing back into the landscape, rather than being uncovered. Thank you for joining in!

Thank you. It was a lovely reminder that patience, always patience, warmth and color will return.

Is this a comment on the summer’s delay in parts of USA?
Regardless, I like it.

Oh yes, absolutely! I have woken to snowy landscapes several times this week in the Black Hills. It’s beautiful but I’m sooooooo ready for warmer weather and SUN! 😉

I feel for you. UK is now through the worst, though temperatures are below the norm. But, these ripples happen every so often.

I love the way nature sleep and waits for the color coming back.

I love Winter for her majesty and monotone elegance. But oh how I also love the boisterous color of Summer! Thanks for reading.
