They came without warning from clear skies. Lightning filled their mouths and like mythic beasts from ancient seas they swallowed entire cities whole. Stealing the colors from our skies, leaving a wake dullness. The millions who died that day were spared the colorless aftermath.

Yea, I often think for many it’s better NOT to survive a catastrophe, for surely the aftermath is harder than the event. For the survivors, there follows one hell of a harrowing adventure
