Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “lip.” Use it as a word, or find a word with “lip”in it. As always, use any way you’d like. Enjoy!
What wondrous things
we call the lips
lift our hearts in song
or gentle kiss
Like each of us
their print’s unique
when in loves true
embrace they seek
to bind us each
to that certain one
who holds us close
when day is done
like lipstick prints
upon the glass
some say that love’s
not meant to last
but when you
press your lips to mine
somehow our very
souls entwine
For Stream of Consciousness Saturday. This is one of those “tiger by the tale” poems that I just grabbed onto as it flowed from brain to keys. I may try to refine it a bit, there seems to be some worthy stuff in there. It’s one of the things I learned from reading Anne Lamott’s book Bird by Bird. She says that you’ve got to write, and write, and write. About everything, about nothing, because somewhere in those pages of junk you might find one golden idea or a single perfect line. That’s how I use these prompts, to keep me writing, every day because sometimes, I come across a tiny flake of gold among all the sand. Many thanks to lindaghill.com for this great Saturday prompt.
