Celebrate Life!

Today the weather is spring-like. Raining and cloudy one moment punctuated by glorious bright blue skies and sunshine, only to disappear beneath the next wave of clouds. Is this cause for celebration? You bettcha! Some years ago, I came upon a profound truth that we hold our lives in a kind of limbo, waiting for the celebration. We save the pretty china for company, we rarely dress up or we make ourselves just presentable when we’re home alone (and sometimes not even that). We go about in a state of anticipation, waiting, always waiting.

How many years did I waste living that way? Too many. If I had back the days I’ve just survived waiting for, the weekend, the right guy, the work bonus, the holiday, the sun to shine, the stars to come out, the clouds to dry up, if I had those days back, I would hold them like gold in my hands. I would see them for the precious resource that they are. I finally stopped waiting for tomorrow and got busy with today because after all, today is all we have – let us begin.

So yes, today I will celebrate the sun, I will celebrate the rain, I will celebrate life.

Alright, my stream of consciousness just ran out. Time for a really hot cup of tea to recharge my infinite improbability drive. 😉

Til next time ~Peace ~JPP

  1. While I still waste time waiting for “things to happen” before doing something, I did learn a long time ago not to just use the “good china” or whatever for special occasions. I don’t use it every day, but I use it when I feel like it, even for all of my dinners alone. Same for the exquisite crystal I have. It’s a small thing, but yes, a kind of important thing, too.
