Nobody’s Fool

Dressed like a clown, no one paid much notice as she wandered about the fair. She spotted the Ring Master, a pudgy man with taste for young girls, standing near the horses. Solanj skipped lightly to his side, singing to the crowd “fooling, fooling, too much fooling” as she bumped him comically.

He never felt the needle-thin dirk she thrust through the fat of his back puncturing the kidney as he fell forward into the mud.

“Quick, call an ambulance, he’s had a heart attack,” Solanj shouted before she faded seamlessly into the background, knowing that he was already dead.
