Song Lyric Sunday – Soul

Song Lyric Sunday

For Song Lyric Sunday over at Helen’s This Thing Called Life blog, the theme this week is soul. Yep, soul. Wow, I could do this a dozen different ways. Songs about soul, songs that speak to my soul, songs in the muscial style of soul. Hmmmm this is quite a conundrum.

I think we all have a song that we go to when life has failed us. When the bad seems to outweigh the good and life just su**s. For me it’s “What a wonderful world by the great “Stachmo” Louis Armstrong. The song lyrics, the voice, the music. They calm and restore me, they soothe my soul.

For your consideration: What a Wonderful World

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
and I think to myself
what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue, clouds of white
the bright blessed day
the dark sacred night
and I think to myself
what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
are also on the faces of the people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying “how do you do”
they’re really saying “I love you”

I hear babies cry, I watch them grow
they’ll learn much more than I’ll ever know
and I think to myself,
what a wonderful world
yeah… I think to myself
what a wonderful world.
Songwriters: George Douglas / George David Weiss / Bob Thiele
