After the Kodaiji Temple, we came to the Gion District. Gion is the former domain of the Geisha filled with training houses and tea houses for entertaining.
Filled with tourists.
As we enter Gion proper, I am surprised at the back alley appearance.
As we round the corner though, the beauty returns.
And we stroll down a lovely boulevard lined with old tea houses, converted into restaurants.
With the lovely foliage and pleasing waterway, it is difficult to understand that this is the “back side” of Gion.
Including a small beautiful temple for the Maiko (apprentice Geisha).
And, of course, the ever present shop where you can purchase your own traditional Japanese garb and accessories to make your Japan experience complete.
Till next time ~Peace ~JPP
