Wide-Eyed World Adventure 11 – Kodaiji Temple and Higashiyama area

We took a good long walk through the Kodaiji Temple and Higashiyama and Gion districts. I’ll save Gion for the next post so let’s take a quick look at the temple and Higashiyama area.

The temple was closed to photographs but the grounds held plenty of photo ops. Statuary abounds,

There are many statues in the area and it’s a lot of fun (and a LOT of walking) to get to all of them.

One of the big touristy itineraries includes the renting of a traditional kimono ensemble to tour the area in.

Most of the tourists in Kyoto are actually Japanese with a smattering of Europeans and Americans. One popular tour is for women only (conducted in Japanese) outfitted in traditional garb.

After many hours and miles of wandering, we come to a beautiful park, complete with requisite koi pond and arched bridge.
