Wow, this is humbling. I mean really, I’m almost at a loss for words, almost.

I have been the recipient of so very many random acts of kindness that it boggles my mind. Even from people of whom one would not expect it. As some of you know, I am a domestic abuse survivor. After my last hospital stay, I returned to an empty house, in a wheel chair. So many kindnesses, from the former co-worker who brought the family SUV to deliver me and my new equipment home, to the ex-husband and ex-father-in-law who built a wheel chair ramp so I could get into the house. So very very many kindnesses. I couldn’t see it at the time, I was lost in despair and rage. I don’t know if I ever even said thank you. I have always believed that there are moments in time that define us. Those single events that change us on a elemental level. There is life before that moment, and life after that moment.

Shortly after the divorce from h**l, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that has infiltrated nearly every organ in my body. One day I sat in a co-worker’s office discussing various IT problems and solutions, when I was gripped by a racking cough which was common for me back then. Once the spasm passed, he asked what was wrong and for some reason, I confided all the medical problems I had including the fact that the 5 year survival rate was less than optimal. I remember the sparkle in those amber eyes when he said, “I have MS you know.” I asked how he managed to fight such a devastating disease and he told me he could tell me what worked for him, I could try it and see if it worked and that he’d help me. That was my moment, all the years of rage, distrust, self loathing and fear, melted away. That was 18 years ago. My life now can only be described as a “fractured fairy tale.” We are two chronically ill people, living a life filled with adventure, travel, fun, and lots and lots of doctors. 😉

So, that’s my story, you never know where a random act of kindness will lead. For my nominations I’d like to nominate every one of you readers for the kindness you show me daily. That said, here are a few of the awesome bloggers who have given me many acts of kindness with their comments and their inspiration.
